There are some that are known to be the best foods for men’s virility, but there are actually those that do the opposite of it- put a damper on your sex drive.
In this article, I will curate a shortlist of foods that you should never eat before sex.

  • Cruciferous Vegetables

You might have learned that cruciferous vegetables are healthy for you. Well, I won’t refute that, but it may not be the best food to eat just moments before sex.
Raffinose, a complex sugar that is usually found in cruciferous veggies, cannot be broken down by our bodies since we do not have the proper enzymes to do that. This will result in the fermentation of the bacteria which may lead to belching and the passing of gas (which is a turn off).

  • Non-Organic Soy

There are some men that are taking soy-based products as a means of getting some protein into their diet. However, if you are going that route, make sure that you are only taking the organic kind.
Non-organic soy products, according to numerous studies, can result in poor libido in men. This has something to do with phytoestrogens in that it can cause hormonal imbalance in your system.

  • Licorice

Have you ever stopped to wonder why Licorice has that distinct taste? Well, that is due to its Glycyrrhizic acid.
The said acid is a compound that is found predominantly in licorice and has been proven to suppress testosterone production in both men and women.

  • Beer

Also known as liquid courage, beer might be tempting to drink before having sex, but I urge you not to do that.
Just like soy-based products, beer also contains phytoestrogens that may hamper your penis’ ability to stay erect during coitus.

  • Commercially-Baked Products

Although they taste really, really good, commercially-baked goodies like cupcakes and donuts are notorious for having high sugar content and trans fats. The latter can lead to increased insulin in the body that could result in lower libido and the latter can lead to clogged arteries that may result in erectile dysfunction.

  • Asparagus

Now, let me be clear here: I am not saying that you should avoid eating Asparagus altogether, but what I am saying is that it may not be advisable to eat this before some sexy time.
Since asparagus cannot be fully digested in the body, it could lead to you passing gas mid-coitus. Add to that the fact that the fermentation process can also make your pee smell weird as well.

  • Cheese

Cheese is a good source of B-vitamins and calcium, but this is not something ideal to eat for people who are lactose-intolerant.

  • Processed Meats

Processed meats like hotdogs and hams contain preservatives and additives that may disrupt normal hormone production in the body. You do not want that to happen, especially since testosterone can lead to better sex, in general.
